My Vinyl Addiction

This is the first part of my first attempt of accurately cataloging my vinyl collection. Something I've told myself I would do after the last time I was robbed.
Anyone with a collection numbering in the thousands has either thought about it at one point, or has kept track al along knowing full well one day it would come in handy.

Since my last theft was so numerous (in the hundreds) it's been impossible to figure out everything that's missing. I just keep going to put something on and, hey... it isn't there.

I'll most likely do this randomly, band by band in no particular order. Just whatever I'm groovin' on at the moment, or in the mood to get into. I'm sure you'll find that it's quite often....

In 1980, following the success of "Overkill", and upon seeing the band begin to rise, the all-mighty record companies who'd shunned and dismissed the band, brought into play one of the most over-issued, un-licensed albums the band would see. Recordings that were made in 1976, with the original line-up of Lemmy, Larry Wallis - guitar, and Lucas Fox - drums. (1 song, "Lost Johnny") and held hostage for nearly four years, by executives, thus the re-recordeing with Speedy Keen in 1977.

"On Parole" - L.P. Liberty Records , Fame/EMI (FA3009) England, 1980.* (G)

 "On Parole" L.P. Liberty/EMI America (LN10340) U.S.A. 1980.* (G)

 * both of these releases date as 1976, that is, in fact when the tracks were recorded, however this is mis-leading as these albums weren't released until 1980.

"Iron Fist" Picture disc L.P. Earmark/Get Back (41017 P) 2003.(M-)

Iron Fist was one of the first Motorhead albums I've ever owned. And to this day, holds the sounds of what I remember most about the days of my introduction to the Motorhead legacy. It's raw, underproduced (by the band, their first attempt no doubt!) and has that grit I've alwayassociated with the band.

"Beer Drinkers" L.P. Basically a repackaging of the Speedy Keen Recordings with a cool alternate cover from Spain. Big Beat/Milan Records (A 120 174) Spain 1982. A picture disc of this release is out there, I have not... (VG++)

1983 also brings us the second most over issued (without the bands permission, and without royalty...) group of recordings that will never go away as long as someone's tryin' to make a buck. It's a show recorded live at The Roundhouse, 18th February, 1978 when the band appeared as "Iron Fist & The Hordes From Hell" But most people know this as:

"What's Words Worth?" or "Live 1978" Big Beat Records - (Big Beat WIKM 49) England 1983. (G)
